Wastewater Treatment Public Comment

Citizens Advisory Committee meeting dedicated to public comment

Please plan to attend the Wastewater Groundwater Discharge Citizen Advisory Committee on Monday, September 29th at 6:00 PM in the Ropewalk Room at Town Hall (26 Court Street Plymouth, MA) to provide public comment or ask questions in regard to town’s plans for a 300% increase in waste water ground discharge in Camelot Park.

Some potential questions might be, but you should feel free to ask/comment on whatever you would like:

Big Picture

  1. What are the reasons for eliminating the direct discharge to the harbor?
  2. What is the urgency for moving forward now?
  3. What other/secondary impacts might the town face if effluent is discharged to the ground surface?
  4. Most people want to have a high level of water quality in both the Eel River and the Harbor.  Is it a zero sum game where the protection of one is to the detriment of the other?
  5. If the plant were to increase its intake and effluent flows, where would they come from?
  6. Has funding been allocated to construct, operate and maintain infrastructure to increase flows to the plant?
  7. What are the Town’s plans for addressing stormwater inputs to the Eel River system?
  8. Why not fix the stormwater inputs to the Eel River before adding more nutrients from the plant?
