“Build it and they will come”

Wastewater Expansion

Please reference this link to the town’s website soliciting a Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan Request for Proposals (RFP). Drawing your attention to the Executive Summary on page 52 of the RFP:

The analyses indicated that the existing wastewater system [is] underutilized and underfunded and that it would be in the best interest of the Town to explore expansion of the sewer system.

To correct this underutilization, the town intends to expand the sewer system, however, it should be noted nearly all the speculated expansion and wastewater volume is slated for Industrial and Commercial growth – in other words, “build it and they will come”. The very same reason Camp, Dresser, and McKee stated back in 1996 justifying why we needed such a large plant in the first place.  A strategy that has continued to produce dismal results.
